Happy National Scrapbook Day!
In 1994, Creative Memories (which is now Anhi & Zoe), declared the first Saturday in May, National Scrapbook Day. Anyone who know me, knows I’m a big time Scrapbooker. I have been since I had my son, Troy, in 1991.
I tired to turn my mom and my mother in law onto scrapbooking too. But, all it did was convince my mom to pull all her photos out of the photo albums that were turning the photos all yellow. She got them all mixed up and way out of order in the process and then got frustrated and split the photos between my brother and I. Now we each have a very mixed up (incomplete) set of photos of our childhood.
This gave me more drive to do the scrapbooking for my kids. Note: this was all in the pre-digital age. I had all my photos printed in duplicates and scrapbooked everything twice. Once for Troy and once for Kristina, my daughter. The extra hiccup in my plan is that I’m a big time photographer. I photographed EVERYTHING! This made scrapbooking a huge process. Most of my scrapbooking got done at scrapbook retreat weekends and most of my pages are pretty simple.
Fast forward 23 years and despite my best efforts to keep up, I’m several years and hundreds of photos (if not more) behind! So imagine my excitement when Stampin’ up! decided to partner with Becky Higgins and bring us Project Life by Stampin’ Up!
This layout was so simple to put together and didn’t require nearly as many supplies as I’m used to carrying to my scrapbook retreats! I got a two page spread done really quickly and didn’t have a mess to clean up! I love it! I think I’ve just got my second wind on scrapbooking! I may get caught up yet!
Who wants to join me in getting caught up on their scrapbooking or simply learning how to scrapbook? As of yesterday, May 1st, 2014 – Project Life by Stampin’ Up! supplies can be purchases in my online store!
