Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop

Hi Stampers. I’m not much of a camper – absolutely NO TENTS!  But, I would make an exception and camp in a trailer somewhere that I can see the Northern Lights!  I’ve never seen them, but it’s on my bucket list!

When I first saw the July 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit (The Adventure Begins), my first thought was about this Northern Lights Technique. I have not perfected this technique yet, but I do love it.

My Northern Lights card started with a Misty Moonlight card base followed by a layer of Shimmery White CS. I used the blending brushes to apply the ink to create the Northern Lights and then splashed some watered down white ink to make the stars. Using the stamp set that came in the Adventure Beings Paper Pumpkin kit and the Stamparatus, I stamped a few trees in Memento Black ink onto the bottom of this layer.

Next, I added a strip of Soft Suede CS to act as the ground to set the trailer on. The trailer was cut out of the card base from the kit and added to this layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I stamped two additional trees onto Shimmery White CS in Memento Black ink using the Stamparatus and cut them out using my Brother Scan N Cut. (A little sponging of black ink on the edges helped hide any white that may have been on an edge.)

Stampin’ Tip: When I’m stamping silhouette images or anything I want super dark, I use the Stamparatus.  The Stamparatus allows you to stamp over and over again in the exact same spot allowing you to build up the layers of ink making the image very dark.

Inside my Northern Lights card is a layer of Blackberry Bliss CS followed by a layer of Shimmery White CS. I used the blending brushes to swirl some ink along the top and sides and the tree stamp with Evening Evergreen ink to stamp the trees.  The sentiment, also from the Adventure Begins Paper Pumpkin kit is stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink.
