2015badge-1Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for December; we are thankful you stopped by.  This month we are showcasing projects that feature Stampin’ Up! products that should be on everyone’s wish list. We hope you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

If you’ve been following my blog at all, you know that I love to do fancy fold cards.  Today I am sharing a “decorative corner card”.  I got the idea from something I saw on Splitcoaststampers.  It was actually pretty easy and I will be doing a tutorial soon.

decorative-corner-card-frontThe card starts with a 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Mossy Meadow card base, scored at 2 1/8, 4 1/4 and 6 3/8.  I also cut a strip of Mossy Meadow card stock 1″ x 5 1/2″ and scored it down the middle.  I used this as a corner to hold the two ends together, so it made the “box” when standing up.  I also used 3 pieces of Merry Moments DSP, 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″ and one piece of Whisper White 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″.  The focal point of the card is a piece of Old Olive card stock cut with the #6 (counting from inside out) of the Lots of Labels framelit dies and a piece of Whisper White card stock cut with the #5 of the Lots of Labels framelit dies.  Using the Stampin’ Up! Festival of Trees stamp set, I stamped onto the Whisper White label with Mossy Meadow ink for the tree, the star in Daffodil Delight ink and the pot for the tree in Chocolate Chip ink.  I embossed the garland using Versamark ink and gold embossing powder.

decorative-corner-card-backFor the Whisper White panel (on the back) I used Mossy Meadow ink to stamp the trees across the bottom, and the sentiment in the middle.  I used Real Red ink to stamp the bird at the top.  All of these stamps are from the Stampin’ Up! Festival of Trees stamp set.

decorative-corner-card-mountTo be sure that the labels on the front  of the card would move when the card was opened, I used a 1″ circle punch and cut two circles from Whisper White card stock and scored in the middle.

Stampin’ Tip: I actually scored the card stock first and then centered the score line in the punch (viewing from the back side) before punching.  This was much easier than trying to find the center of the 1″ circle after they were punched.

decorative-corner-card-standing-upI finished off my card by adding a few flowers stamped in Real Red ink onto Whisper White card stock (from the Stampin’ Up! Wonderous Wreath stamp/framelit bundle) and a few pearls to the tree, to act as ornaments. The card then stands upright so the recipient can set it out for display.  I hope you give it a try!
