Hi Stampers. It’s been near 100 degrees for over two weeks now and I’m sick of it! This is TOO HOT for me!  So, it’s Christmas in July in the stamp studio! I’m staying inside in the air conditioned basement and playing around with Cookie Cutter Christmas.  This is a stamp set that carried over from last year and is in our 2018-2019 Annual Catalog.  It has a coordinating punch that goes with it, making it super fun to play around with!

This Christmas card starts with an Early Espresso card base, 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″.  Next up is a 4″ x 5 1/4″ layer of Crumb Cake CS that was run through the Big Shot with the Pinewood Planks Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  For the banners I used two new in-colors: Call Me Clover and Lovely Lipstick.  I cut the cardstock into 1 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ strips and flagged the ends with the Banner Triple Punch. I used the 2018-2020 In-Color DSP in matching colors to layer on top of the CS.  The DSP was cut to 1 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ and flagged with the Banner Triple Punch.

Santa is from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set.  I stamped Santa in Memento Black ink onto a 2″ Whisper White CS circle.  His suit is colored with both of the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends (dark and light).  Santa’s belt is colored with the dark Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend and the buckle is colored with the dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. I used the Ivory Stampin’ Blends to color his face.

Using the Layering Circles Framelits Dies, I cut a scalloped circle out of Call Me Clover CS and a slightly larger scalloped circle out of Early Espresso CS. All layers and elements are glued together with Multi-purpose Liquid Glue.

Stampin’ Tip:  The circles could be mounted on Stampin’ Dimensionals, but I would only suggest one layer of those if you plan on mailing the card.  Cards that are thicker require extra postage.  One way to “test” to see if it’s thin enough to only require one stamp is to use the Stampin’ Trimmer. Slide the card (in the envelope) through the track that the cutting/scoring blades travel in. If it fits though there OK, it only needs one first class stamp.  If not, it requires extra postage.

I try to always include a little stamping on the inside layer of the card.  The Whisper White, inside layer of CS, is cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″. Before adhering it to the inside of the card, I stamped the sentiment and the two items at the bottom.  This allowed me to let the Santa and Reindeer stamps hang off the edge, so they look like they are just popping their heads in. (Another advantage is that if any of the stamping isn’t quite right, you can flip it over and stamp on the other side *wink*). Santa was colored with the same Stampin’ Blends as on the outside of the card.  The reindeer’s face is colored with the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends Duo and the antlers are colored with the Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends Duo.

I love how this card came out and can’t wait to make these in my Christmas in July class next week.  If you would like to make this card (and the other two we will be making with this stamp set) I invite you to order the “class to go” kit on my registration page.  For just $15, I will precut all the CS for 9 cards, 3 of each design, and send it to you.  All you need to do is provide the stamps and ink.  If you don’t have those, you can order them from my store by using the links below.

If you have a long wish list… I invite you to join Creative Royalty.  It’s a “no strings attached” way to get $192.50 worth of Stampin’ Up! product for just $99 (with FREE shipping!).  Plus, you will enjoy (at least) a 20% discount through (at least) the end of January 2019 AND get to view and order from two catalogs (and Sale-A-Bration) a month before the public!
