Hi Stampers!  Today’s card was a special order for a customer.  Fun thing about doing special orders is that I get to be more creative.  This card uses four stamp sets!  Normally I wouldn’t do that to you – since you may not have all four needed to make the card, but I liked the way it came out.  If you don’t have all you need to make this card exactly (and don’t want to buy it all at my online store – although you could…. lol), at least maybe you will come away with an idea or two that you can incorporate into your card making.Handmade card - deer in the woodsThis card has a Crumb Cake cardbase. The first thing I did to it was cut the oval out on my bigshot with the oval framelit.  As you can see, I let it hang off of the side.  I then used a 4″ x 5.25″ layer of Very Vanilla cardstock and stamped the trees in Mossy Meadow ink and then the deer head from Stampin’ Up! Remembering Christmas stamp set in Early Espresso ink. I didn’t like the way the bottom of the head looked, so I stamped a few extra trees on Very Vanilla cardstock with the Mossy Meadow ink and cut them out and layered them over the bottom of the deer head.  I then stamped the Stampin’ Up! Gorgeous Grunge stamp set onto the cardbase with Mossy Meadow and Crumb Cake to make it look camoflauged.

Stampin’ Tip: The next step was to wrap the linen thread around the card and add the button.  I then attached the Very Vanilla layer  to the back of the card base. Adding the thread before adhering the Very Vanilla layer to the back of the card front allows it to hide the thread and secure the thread in place better.

inside the deer in the woods cardFor the interior of the card, I used another 5.25″ x 4″ layer of Very Vanilla cardstock.  I stamped the trees along the bottom in Mossy Meadow ink, letting them hang off of the cardstock a little bit and then stamped the Happy Cake Day from the Stampin’ Up! Age Awareness stamp set in Mossy Meadow ink. I then adhered it to the inside of my card.  This makes a great card for any deer hunter’s birthday. 🙂
