Hi Stampers. Today’s card is a peek-a-boo shutter card. I’ve seen lots of these on YouTube and Pinterest lately and just had to give it a try! Here is the card I made:

This card is made with a gate fold in Always Artichoke card stock. The card stock was cut a 8.5″ x 5.5″ and scored at 2 1/8″ form each side and folded towards the middle. I used the Stampin’ Up! amazing birthday stamp set for this card. I stamped the birthday cake and “it’s for you” circle stamps in Always Artichoke ink onto the card base. I then cut the banner using the big shot and the banner framlits in Crushed Curry card stock. I adhered the Crushed Curry banner to the flap on the left side of the card – but not on the right side (so it will still open).
Stampin tip: I achieved the multiple colors by using the brush end of the Stampin’ Write Markers in Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Always Artichoke to color directly onto the stamp. I then “huffed” onto it with my breath to re-moisten the ink and stamped onto Whisper White card stock. I then cut this out with the big shot and banner framelit. I find it better to stamp first and then cut out my framelit shape, so that I can center the image better. I then adhered the Whisper White banner onto Cajun Craze card stock and trimmed around it with my paper snips, making a banner that was in between the two sizes.

As you can see, the inside has a little peek a boo / shutter effect. Surprise! This was achieved by using a few more banners. I’ll be doing a video on this next week. So, stayed tuned for more instructions!

This card was inspired by the Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge #219.
Happy Stamping,
