Hi Stampers. Are you ready to CELEBRATE? We are now in full swing for Stampin’ Up! 2016 Sale a Bration – the biggest sale Stampin’ Up! does all year! In honor of the big sale we are celebrating I’ve created this bright and cheery card using this weeks Pals Paper Arts sketch. I invite you to play along with us over at Pals Paper Arts.
This card started out with a Whisper White card base, using our new thicker Whisper White card stock. It gives the same smooth quality we appreciate, but is thicker, to give the card base more stability. I then added a layer of Designer Series Paper (DSP) the same size as the card front (5.5″ x 4.25″) from the new It’s My Party DSP stack and adhered it with snail adhesive. I then cut a 5.25″ x 4″ layer of Garden Green card stock and ran it through my big shot with the Decorative Dots embossing folder. That’s when I had to stop and think…
Stampin’ Tip: How did they get that perfect slice out of the middle of that sketch? What I did was mark !” up on the left side and 2″ up on the right side and cut between the two marks using my Stampin’ Trimmer. Then I lined the top piece back onto the trimmer and trimmed off a half inch of card stock. Then wrapped the bakers twine around the bottom piece and adhered the twine to the back of the layer. I then used snail adhesive to adhere this bottom piece of the layer to the bottom of the card (leaving an even border), next I adhered the top piece of that layer with snail adhesive.
For my bright balloon focal point, I used Real Red, Pacific Point and Daffodil Delight ink to stamp the balloons using the Celebrate Today stamp set and then cut them out with the matching balloon framelits. I stamped the “celebrate” sentiment onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock and fussy cut out the banner following the curve of the stamp. I adhered some bakers twine to the back of the balloons and tucked it behind the bottom layer of Garden Green. I then adhered the balloons and then sentiment over the top layer of Garden Green using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I finished it off with a tiny bow of bakers twine adhered to the bottom of the middle balloon with a glue dot.
I hope my card inspires you to play along with Pals Paper Arts and to celebrate Sale-a-bration with us!
Happy Stamping,

Thank you, Linda. You gave us a great sketch to work with.
Nice pops of colors in those balloons on that bright green background! Perfect birthday card for anyone.
Thanks, Dawn.
Hi Lisa, I love how you created the space between the pieces of card stock as your “stripe” area from the sketch.
Thanks Patti. I just thought that was how it was “supposed” to be done when I saw the sketch. 🙂 LOL
The colorful balloons just scream happy birthday! Terrific birthday card!
Thanks, Ginger.
How fun is this! I love those cheery balloons! A perfect card for celebrating not only a birthday…but anything which needs to be celebrated!
