Hi Stampers. As the year comes to a close and we pack away the Christmas decorations and ready ourselves for the new year we may find ourselves in need of birthday cards once again. There is nothing like writing important dates into the new years calendar to remind you how many birthdays are coming up in the near future. For this card I chose to go with another gift card idea using a current and a retired set. The front of the card is done with the current Pocket Full of Sunshine stamp set, while the inside is done with the B.Y.O.P. stamp set.
This card starts with a Dapper Denim card base, 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″. I stamped the pocket onto a piece of Dapper Denim piece of cardstock approx. 3 1/2″ x 3 3/4″. The pocket was then cut out with the coordinating framelit from the Pocket Framelit dies using the Big Shot. I stamped the “HBD” (meaning Happy Birthday) and the sunglasses onto scrap of Real Red CS with Basic Black ink and cut them out with the matching framelit. The money was stamped in Old Olive ink onto Very Vanilla CS and cut that with the matching framelit on the Big Shot.
A piece of Whisper White card stock was cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″ for the front of the card. The sentiments were then stamped in Dapper Denim ink. in the upper left and lower right corner. The edges of the “pocket” were folded on the score lines and fast fuse was attached to them so that the pocket could be attached to the card front. Fast fuse was used because it has a stronger hold and we will be inserting the money and sunglasses into the pocket. Isn’t that cool that it functions as an actual pocket?!?!
The greetings on the inside of this card can be anything you wish. I chose to use a retired stamp set because it fit my need. The stamp set is called B.Y.O.P (which means buy your own present). I stamped in primary colors: Real Red, Dapper Denim and Garden Green ink. A red heard (from the same stamp set) was stamped in Real Red ink in two corners.
Now all I have to do is add money and send it on its way. 🙂 If you would like to make this card, I have included a list of supplies below. I do hope that you would choose me as YOUR demonstrator!
