Hi Stampers.
It’s a Magical Day! Welcome back to another Remarkably Creative Blog tour. This time around we were asked to use our favorite bundle from the new 2018 Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog. There was no question in my mind, I wanted to use the Magical Day bundle. It’s totally adorable and fit for a Queen! It’s also fabulous to color with the new Stampin’ Blends Markers!
The card in a box is one of my favorites. My very first YouTube video ever was a card in a box card. I’ve also created a PDF tutorial to go along with another blog post.
The base is Basic Gray and then I used Smokey Slate. The Smokey Slate layer was cut and then put through the Big Shot with the brick wall embossing folder. For the top of the castle I used a 1″ x 3″ strip of Basic Gray and dry embossed them with the brick wall embossing folder and then held the two together back to back and cut the little merlons (raised stonework) myself with paper snips. I then attached one to the front and one to the back of the top of the card.
The characters (knights, dragon, wizard and mermaids) were stamped onto scraps of Whisper White CS with Memento Black ink and colored the with the Stampin’ Blends Markers. They more I play with those markers the more I love them! I then die cut them out with the Big Shot and the coordinating Magical Mates framelit dies. For the sentiment, I colored the stamp with the Elegant Eggplant and Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write markers onto Whisper White CS. The framelit didn’t quite fit. So, I layed it over the image and traced around the outside with a pencil and cut it out with my paper snips.
Every castle needs a mote filled with water! The coordinating Myths and Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper (cut into 1-/2″ strips) was perfect to make waves of water around the base of the castle. I didn’t even realize there were little waves dies in the Magical Mates framelits. When I saw this scallop in the Seasonal Layers framelit dies I just thought it would make perfect “WAVES” and this was my chance to put my idea in motion.
I adhered the waves by using Fast Fuse adhesive around the bottom of the waves. After the waves were attached I inserted the mermaids and adhered them with mini glue dots. I made a custom 5-1/2″ x 6″ envelope to fit this card using the envelope punch board.
Who wouldn’t love to get a card that pops up into all these magical day characters? I hope it encourages you to make your wish list from the 2018 Stampin’ Up!
