Hi Stampers. I realize we still have snow in many areas of the United States (we had some in Idaho last weekend), but Spring is coming! So, I pulled out my Stampin’ Up! Dragonfly Dreams and got stamping. I’m ready to stamp in Spring! How about you? Have you had enough winter yet?
I had a class last week here in my home (also available by mail) that was all about Spring cards. This was one of the ones we made. It is a thick Whisper White card base, 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″. I used the Stampin’ Up! Hardwood background stamp with Smokey Slate ink to stamp directly on the card front. The sentiment was also stamped directly on the card front, with Tuxedo Black ink.
Next, I cut a piece of Blushing Bride Glimmer paper 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ square. I then cut a piece of Whisper White CS 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ and embossed it with the Hexagons Dynamic Impressions Embossing Folder with my big shot.
Stampin’ Tip: If you don’t have the color of glimmer paper that you want you can easily make colored glimmer paper with Stampin’ Up! ink refills. Just use a stampin’ sponge to apply any color ink to the dazzling diamonds glimmer paper.
Bakers twine was then wrapped around the dry embossed Whisper White layer 3 times and tied in a bow. I then adhered the glimmer paper to the card front with snail adhesive. The Whisper White layer to the glimmer paper with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The bees, from Stampin’ Up! Dragonfly Dreams stamp set, were stamped in Tuxedo black ink onto scraps of Whisper White CS and cut out with the paper snips (or if you are lucky like me – you can cut them out with the Brother Scan n Cut). I used the daffodil Delight marker to color the bees and added Wink of Stella to the wings. The bees were then attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
To finish off this card, I stamped the sentiment and the bee (from Stampin’ Up! Dragonfly Dreams stamp set) in Tuxedo Black ink on the interior of the card. The bee was colored with Daffodil Delight marker and accented with Wink of Stella on the wings.
I hope this card makes you think spring and gets you motivated to stamp something today!
