Hi Stampers. The say June is all about brides and babies. So, today I’m playing with the new Animal Outing stamp set bundle to make this adorable gift card holder for a baby. Those of us demonstrators who attended the Stampin’ Up! OnStage event in April, when the new catalog was released, were given this set for free. (I love my job! A fun trip to Vegas with friends and FREE stamps!) This baby shower card is one of the three cards I did for this months fancy fold card class.
I offer classes locally in my studio in Twin Falls, Idaho – but also offer my classes as a “class to go” option. You can purchase just the pre-cut kit of cardstock / supplies to make these cards (for just $15 – you get three of each card, for a total of nine cards) and use your own stamps and ink or you can purchase the stamps and ink from my online store.
This card starts with a Shaded Spruce card base that is 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 2 1/2″ and 5 1/2″. I then used the Animal Expedition DSP- cut to 4″ x 2 1/4″, 4″ x 2 3/4″ and 4″ x 1″. I adhered the 4″ x 3 3/4″ piece of DSP to the card front near the 5 1/2″ fold and then the 4″ x 2 1/4″ piece of DSP next to that. I then notched half of a circle with my one inch circle punch to the right side before folding it over. I attached the folded over part to the inside of the card with tear and tape at the top and bottom. The side with the notched out circle was left open to insert the gift card.
For the focal point on the front of the card I started with a piece of Whisper White CS cut with the second largest square framelit from the stitched framelit dies. Next I used the layering squares framelit dies to cut the a straight square in Granny Apple Green CS just a little bigger than the white and a scalloped square in Shaded Spruce CS a little larger than that. I stamped the Kangaroo and the Giraffe from the Animal Outing stamp set in Memento Black ink onto scraps of Whisper White CS and colored with the Stampin’ Blends. They were then cut out with the coordinating Animal Friends Framelit Dies. The sentiment was stamped in Granite Gray ink onto the Whisper White square. The animals were attached to the Whisper White CS with glue dots and the Whisper White square was attached to the Granny Apple Green square with snail adhesive. The Granny Apple Green square was attached to the Shaded Spruce square with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I then added snail adhesive to the one side of the Shaded Spruce square that attached to the card front.
I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock (CS) to 5 1/4″ x 4″ and attached the 4″ x 1″ DSP to the right side for the interior of the card. This is a great fold that can be done for many occasions – wedding, birthday, Christmas, graduation… anytime you want to give a gift card. :-)
The Animal Expedition DSP I used in this project is one of the ones that will be on sale for the month of July. From July 1 to 31, 2018 we are having a stock up and save sale on DSP. If you buy 3 (of the packs on sale) – you get one free!
