Hi Stampers.
Welcome to the Pals June, 2018 Blog Hop. This month we’re going to Pick a “B”. Projects for Babies, Birthdays or Brides, that is. Be on the look out for creations using new products from Stampin’ Up!
You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
I decided to play around with the Stampin’ Up! Wonderful Moments stamp set for the first time. The images are just beautiful and celebrate women in a special way. I love the soft look of this pregnant woman lost in thought.
In searching for a pink, I decided to go with the 2017-2019 in-color – Powder Pink for my card base. That was cut to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″. I was searching around my studio looking for some of the newer DSP papers and this pretty pink from the Tropical Escape DSP caught my eye. The DSP is cut to 5 1/4″ x 4″ and adhered with snail adhesive.
I stamped the woman in Blushing Bride ink onto Whisper White CS and cut that out with the Layering Ovals framelit dies. I used the layering framelit dies again to make mattes for under that with Basic Gray and Melon Mambo CS. The Melon Mambo scalloped circle was adhered to the card base with snail, as was the Whisper White onto the Basic Gray oval. The Basic Gray was attached to the Melon Mambo oval with Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it a little pop.
I felt the front of the card needed a little something in addition to the oval focal point, so I used some scraps of Melon Mambo CS (approx. 4″ x 1/2″) and a thin strip of Basic Gray CS down the center of that. I still wasn’t happy, so I dug through my framelits and found this flower in the Springtime Impression thinlit dies. Those were cut out of Powder Pink CS and a Clear Faceted Gem was placed in the center of each one.
Stampin’ Tip: The flowers were pretty small and thin, so I used the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets to make them stickers. If you haven’t tried that stuff yet, you don’t know what you are missing! You peel off one side of the adhesive sheet to reveal the adhesive and place it on the back of your CS and then you run it though the Big Shot as usual. When you are ready to adhere it to your project, you just peel off the back layer and reveal the adhesive. Poof! Instant sticker with NO MESS!! How cool is that?!?!
The interior of the card was lined with a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White CS. I used a 1/2″ strip of the same DSP from the front of the card on the top and bottom of this layer to make the inside coordinate with the outside. The sentiment (also from the Wonderful Moments stamp set) was stamped in Blushing Bride ink. The interior was finished off with a single Melon Mambo flower in the lower left corner.
This card didn’t come out quite as I hoped, but I know this is going to be a very fun set to play around with and I will have many more samples using this set in the future.
