Merry Christmas Stampers! I hope you are blessed to be able to spend today surrounded by family and loved ones. My husband and I find ourselves alone this year as our kids are busy working and being adults… This is the part about the empty nest that I had not planned on. I always viewed them coming home for the holidays, but as they grow and marry they get other family to spend time with too. So their time is split… But, I have my stamping to keep me distracted today and wanted to bless you with this Farmhouse Christmas card filled with Happy Christmas Wishes.
This card starts with a Shaded Spruce card base – 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″. Next up is a 5-3/8″ x 4-1/8″ layer of Real Red CS. I stamped the house and tree (from the Stampin’ Up! Farmhouse Christmas stamp set) onto a Whisper White layer 5-1/8″ x 3-7/8″ using Memento Black ink. I colored the house with Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends duo, Real Red Stampin’ Blends duo and Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends duo. I added a little bit of light Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend to the windows to make it look as if the lights are on inside. For the roof and the tree I used Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends duo. The grass was colored with Old Olive Stampin’ Blends duo and the sidewalk is colored with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends duo. I just LOVE my Stampin’ Blends!! I find it relaxing to color and they shade beautifully, very easily!!
The truck is super cute! I stamped it onto a scrap of Whisper White CS with Memento Black ink and colored it with the Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends duo. For the bumper I used the light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend and a little Basic Black Stampin’ duo added in for the tires. The truck was then die cut using the die from the coordinating Farmhouse Framelit Dies. There was not enough room to add the entire truck to the Whisper White layer, so I adhered it (hanging off the edge) before adhering the Whisper White CS layer to my card so I could trim off the extra part of the truck from the back with my paper snips.
The sentiment was stamped in Real Red ink onto a scrap of Whisper White CS and die cut it out using the stitched from from the Farmhouse Framelit dies. I used another die from that set to due cut the banner behind the sentiment out of Shaded Spruce CS. The banner is attached to the card front with liquid glue and the sentiment over that with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The inside of the card coordinates great with the outside. I used a layer of Whisper White CS that is 5-1/4″ x 4″ and stamped the truck and tree in Memento Black ink and colored with the Stampin’ Blends to match the outside of the card. (I used a little bit of light Smoky Slate blender to create a shadow under the truck). There are two sentiments: one stamped in Real Red ink and one stamped in Shaded Spruce ink.
As the card states, I’m sending “thoughts of happiness and joy to you and yours – from our house to yours”. Merry Christmas to you all!
