Hi Stampers, have you ever just been bored by the standard card fold and want to do something different, but not get all complicated? I have the perfect card for you today, the barn door fold.
Starting with a standard card base (4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5-1/4″) in Shaded Spruce CS and cut the top half of the front of the card off. That’s right, just cut right down the middle at 2-1/8″ from the right edge to the fold on the left and then cut up towards the top. Across the bottom of the card front is a 1-7/8″ x 4″ layer of Whisper White CS, covered by three pieces of Classic Christmas DSP (1-5/8″ x 1-5/8″).
The sentiment (from the Snowman Season stamp set) is stamped onto a strip of Whisper White CS (3″ x 3/4″) in Cherry Cobbler ink. Using the paper trimmer I cut a small slit on either end of the Cherry Cobbler strip of CS. I used a 5″ strip of Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon and weaved it into the left slit, under the CS and up through the right slit. The sentiment was adhered to the Cherry Cobbler CS using stampin’ seal and adhered to the card front using stampin’ dimensionals.
Inside the card is a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Whisper White CS adhered with stampin’ seal. I then attached 3 (1-5/8″ x 1-3/4″) pieces of Classic Christmas DSP across the top. The colors were the same, just arranged in a different order. If you would like to see this card being made, please watch the video below.
Here is another card, using the same design with Tis the Season Designer Series Paper.
