Hi Stampers. Today’s cards are a bit of a flashback Friday for me. These cards are made to look like Sesame Street Characters. My kids were 1 and 5 the year Tickle Me Elmo came out. I remember that Christmas they where THE toy to have and couldn’t be found in any stores, so they were selling them online for outrageous prices!!  That was 1996.  My kids are 25 & 29 now…  Sesame Street is long gone from our lives, but I still have very fond memories from my childhood and theirs.

Another demo made cards like these quite some time ago, when Stampin’ Up! sold a special die that cut the half circle and scored the card base to make this circle flip.  I never bought the die, because I found out how to make a flip card with any open die we have!  I show you how in the video below.

The way these cards came into my mind was the Nothin’s Better Than Stamp bundle.  It had these cute cookies in the bundle. Having cookie stamps means we needed a Cookie Monster card, right?!?!

The Layering Circles Dies were perfect for cutting out the eyes and mouth, using Basic Black and Whisper White CS.

Cookie Monster is made in Pacific Point CS and the fur was made using the Old World Paper Embossing Folder.

Stampin’ Tip: When there is die cutting and dry embossing on the same layer, do the die cutting first.  If you did it after the dry embossing it could flatten out the embossing.

Elmo was done very similarly, using Real Red CS.

I added the Layering Oval Dies and some Pumpkin Pie CS to make his nose.

I corner rounded the corners on the right side to soften it up a bit and also make it more like a puppet.

Do you remember this guy?  Good ol’ Oscar the Grouch!  He is done in Granny Apple Green CS.

While much of the way he is made stays the same, I did add Soft Suede CS for his eyebrows, which were also dry embossed.

A half a circle of Real Red CS makes up his tongue.  What do you think?  Which one is your favorite?  Want to make one – watch this video below for all the details!
