Hi Stampers. This year Stampin’ Up! did something I haven’t seen them do before, they brought back a retired stamp set – and they added a set of die cuts to go with it! The Hey, Chick stamp set was a Sale-A-Bration reward in 2017 and was super popular. (They also added an additional coordinating stamp set called Birthday Chick and it has dies, too!
I grew up in Petaluma, California – “the chicken capital of the world”. In high school I even worked on an egg farm for a while (in the sales office). So, the Hey Chick stamp set feels close to home. You can read about Petaluma History HERE.
My card starts with a Crumb Cake card base (8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″) followed by a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Cherry Cobbler Designer Series Paper (from the color family paper stacks). I thought the wood design went well with the farm theme.
For the focal point of the card, I used the Stitched So Sweetly rectangle dies to cut one Very Vanilla and one slightly larger Cherry Cobbler layer. I used the awesome new blender brushes to blend Old Olive and Balmy Blue ink onto the Very Vanilla layer. A touch of Soft Suede was rubbed on in the middle to represent dirt.
This little farm scene was built using the Chick Dies. The chicken coop is die cut from Cherry Cobbler CS, the corn is die cut from Old Olive and Daffodil Delight CS and the fence was die cut from Soft Suede CS. Don’t you just love all the detail in these die cuts? The chicken coop die cut and embossed at the same time.
Hey, Chick! was stamped, in Memento Black ink, on the front of the card as a greeting.
Inside the card is a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Very Vanilla CS. The chickens, from the Hey Chick stamp set, were stamped in the corners in Memento Black ink and colored using the Stampin’ Blends.

Hi Lisa Ann:
I love looking at your cards and getting ideas
I grew up on a chicken ranch in So. Calif.
Last month, I used the chick stamp and die to make a birthday card for my brother. The family is still in the egg business.
How fun! Thank you for your nice comment. I love to hear from my readers!
Absolutely LOVE this card. TFS
