Hi Stampers. When I first saw the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog, I knew I had to have the In the Wild Suite!  My daughter is a HUGE Lion King fan.  I know, the stamp set is for tigers and cheetahs not lions, but it was close and I could make it work!

Stampin' Up! In the Wild Suite Collection
Stampin’ Up! groups products together in a “suite” to simplify things for us. With one item number we can order the stamp set, dies, Designer Series Paper and embossing folder. This helps tremendously in coordination and helps us have products that work together for a great finished project!

My In The Wild card starts with an Evening Evergreen card base – 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″. Next up is a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of the In The Wild DSP, adhered with Stampin’ Seal. Using the Big Cats dies, I die cut a big cat out of Crumb Cake CS and the Layering Circles Dies to die cut a circle (larger than the big cat). A Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker was used to add the nose and eye to the big cat.

The sentiment was stamped in Evening Evergreen ink onto a 1/2″ x 4″ strip of Basic White CS. Next, I cut a 3/4″ x 4″ strip of Soft Succulent CS and used the Banner Pick a Punch to flag both ends. These two strips were then adhered together with Stampin’ Seal. Linen Tread was wrapped around the left end of the two strips. This was then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To color the Basic White circle, I used the Blender Brushes with Evening Evergreen, Soft Suede and Balmy Blue inks. After applying the ink, I adhered the punched out cat to the circle towards the left side and cut off the right side.  This was then adhered to the card front (towards the right edge of DSP) using Stampin’ Seal.

Stampin’ Tip: To get the uneven edge to the top of the Evening Evergreen I used a post-it note.  I tore the edge along the sticky part and adhered that post-it onto the circle with the torn edge where I wanted the top of the green. Then, I used the Blender Brushes to blend the Evening Evergreen and the Soft Suede to the bottom. Next, I removed the post it note and blended the Balmy Blue on the top.

Inside the card is a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Basic White CS. Using a Blender Brush, I lightly blended Balmy Blue ink on the top of this layer. The sentiment and the plants, from the Wild Cats stamp set, along the bottom of this layer are stamped in Evening Evergreen ink.

Stampin’ Tip: To get two different shades of a color from one stamp pad, try “second generation” stamping. Normally, you ink before stamping every time.  For “second generation” stamping, you stamp twice without re-inking in between.  This gives you two shades of the same color.
