Hi, Stampers. It’s official – Spring is here! It was 75 degrees here today it was gorgeous! The flowers are popping up and the birds are singing. I was sad to see that the Free As A Bird stamp set and dies will be retiring next month, so I pulled it out for today’s card.
I started my Free As A Bird card with an Old Olive card base – 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″. Next up is a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Blushing Bride CS. I stamped the flower in Blushing Bride ink all over this layer before adhering it to my card front.
The focal point of my card is the group of birds, from the Free As A Bird stamp set, stamped in StazOn Black ink onto a layer of Very Vanilla CS and then colored with the Stampin’ Up! watercolor pencils. After coloring, I blended using the Blender Pen. This makes such a HUGE difference! The Trio Punch was used to punch the detail in the upper right and upper left corner, just for some interest. This layer was adhered to a layer of the Pattern Party DSP with Stampin’ Seal and then to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Inside the Free As A Bird card is a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Very Vanilla CS. The leaves are stamped in the upper right, the bird in the lower left, and the sentiment in the center, all in StazOn Black ink. These stamps all come from the Free As A Bird stamp set. Don’t you love it when ONE stamp set does the entire card?
Again, I colored using watercolor pencils and blended with the blender pen. I added a little bit of color under the bird for “grounding”, so he doesn’t appear to be floating in the air. It’s amazing what a difference that little bit of color does to my card.
