Hi, Stampers. I have a great fold to share with you today!  This faux side step card was so fun to make that I made a bunch of them! It’s so much easier than the traditional side step card – shown here.

Card #1:

The base of my faux side step card starts with a piece of Highland Heather CS – 5-1/2″ x 8″, scored at 3″, 6″ and 7″. The step part of this card is a piece of Highland Heather CS – 3″ x 6″ scored at 4-1/4″.

Before adhering the two pieces together, I decorated them. The bottom front piece of Basic White CS is 3/4″ x 5-1/4″, while the back piece is decorated with a  2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of the Flowering Fields DSP.  The front layer of Basic White is also 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″, just rotated 90 degrees.

On the back is a piece of Basic White CS 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″. I brushed the clouds on using my template (made using the Basic Borders Dies) and blending brushes. The sentiment was stamped in Highland Heather and the flower was stamped in Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape and Mango Melody inks.

Card #2:

All the measurements are the same for all three faux side step cards, but this time I used the Peaceful Moments stamp set and colored with Stampin’ Blends.

I just LOVE the DSP used in the background on this card – New Horizons 6″ x 6″. It’s beautiful paper – note: it’s been so popular, it’s currently in low inventory. I suggest ‘add to cart’ on this one. 🙂

Again, the back of the faux side step card has a piece of Basic White CS 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ with Balmy Blue clouds. The sentiment and butterflies are stamped in Highland Heather ink, while the flowers were stamped in Memento Black and colored with Stampin’ Blends.

Card #3:

My final faux side step card of the day is a “warmer” version of the first card. I’ve used warmer colors for the base and DSP this time.

The tulip was built the same way using Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather and Fresh Freesia cardstocks.
