Hi, Stamper. Happy 4th of July! This week I am working with the Hippest Hippo stamp set and the Hippo Dies.  Each of these are a level 1 sale-a-bration reward, meaning they can be earned for FREE with a $50 order. Today, I made a Hippo 4th of July card.

Today’s 4th of July card is a book binding easel card. It starts with a Real Red card base – 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5-1/2″, 6-3/4″ and 8-7/8″. To decorate the top (book binding) part of the card is a 1-1/8″ x 4-1/8″ piece of Basic White CS and a 1″ x 4″ piece of Starry Sky CS and then White Glittered Organdy ribbon with a bow is wrapped around that portion. A second set of these layers are cut for the inside bottom of the card.

The center focal piece, of my book binding easel card, is a 4-1/8″ x 4-1/8″ layer of Basic White CS, a 4″ x 4″ layer of Starry Sky and a 3-7/8″ x 3-7/8″ layer of Basic White. I stamped the hippo from Hippest Hippos stamp set in Basic Gray ink (onto the 3-7/8″ x 3-7/8″ Basic White layer) and colored with Stampin’ Blends. Using the new Stampin’ Up! masking paper, I masked the hippo and then used Blending Brushes to blend blues for the sky and greens for the grass. Using a Stampin’ Up! spritzer, I spritz a little water on the ink to create a little interest in the inks.

Using the Hippo Dies (a level 1 sale-a-bration reward), I die cut the hippo, the bucket from Basic Gray CS, the water droplets from Balmy Blue CS (with adhesive sheet on the back) and the snorkeling gear out of Real Red CS (with adhesive sheet on the back. These were then adhered to the card front to create the scene for our 4th of July card.

Inside the 4th of July card is a 4-1/8″ x 4-1/8″ layer of Basic White CS. The sentiment is stamped in the center in Starry Sky ink.  I hope you have as much fun for your 4th of July as our hippo here is!
