Hi, Stamper. Did you know that you could do watercoloring with Stampin’ Write Markers? Stampin’ Write Markers are dye based markers and these use the same type of ink that is in our Classic Stampin’ Pads. Keep in mind, they’re different from our Stampin’ Blends markers, which feature alcohol-based ink for a completely different coloring technique.

Stampin' Up! Sending Love Center Step Card by Lisa Ann Bernard of Queen B Creations

Sometimes, revisiting the classics is just what we need! While the faux center step card has been a favorite lately, this traditional center step card design is fun to do too. I started with a Berry Burst card base, layering it with Bubble Bath Designer Series Paper from the Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP pack.

The star of this card, however, is the center layer of watercolor paper. I stamped the mailbox in StazOn ink, masked it with masking paper, and used blending brushes to apply Garden Green ink for the ground and Balmy Blue ink for the sky. In my video, I focused on showing how I used the Stampin’ Write Markers and Water Painters to create a beautiful watercolor effect.

Instead of adding a layer to the inside of the card, I decided to place it on the back. I used Bubble Bath ink to stamp the sentiment and Smoky Slate ink for the “postal mark” onto a piece of Basic White cardstock. This was then layered onto Bubble Bath cardstock before being adhered to the back of the card. If you want to learn how to do watercoloring with Stampin’ Write Markers, just watch the video below.
