Hi, Stamper. Welcome to my first post in the Technique Tuesdays Blog Hop. Each month we share a stamping technique, this month we are featuring the Stampin’ Up! Embossing Paste. I chose to work with the Layers of Beauty Bundle. This bundle has layering masks and I used embossing paste on the top mask.

My handmade card begins with a Bubble Bath card base (8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″) and is layered with Petunia Pop cardstock (4″ x 5-1/4″) for a vibrant contrast. To add elegance, I used a piece of Country Lace Designer Series Paper (3-3/4″ x 5″) as the next layer. The floral focal point was created with the Layers of Beauty Decorative Masks. Using Blending Brushes, I applied Bubble Bath ink with mask #1 and Fresh Freesia ink with mask #2 for a soft, blended effect. For added texture and shimmer, I mixed Shimmery White Embossing Paste with a drop of Fresh Freesia re-inker on a silicone mat using palette knives, then applied it through mask #3. For the leaves I used blending brushes to apply Old Olive ink with mask #4 and some Shimmery White Embossing Paste with a drop of Old Olive ink using mask #5. The finished flowers were die-cut with the Layers of Beauty Dies and adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals, adding depth and dimension.

Inside my handmade card, I added a layer of Petunia Pop cardstock (4″ x 5-1/4″) as a bold backdrop, topped with a Basic White cardstock layer (3-3/4″ x 5″) for a crisp, clean design. To create a soft, elegant background, I used the large floral stamp from the Stampin’ Up! Layers of Beauty stamp set, stamping it in the upper left and lower right corners with Bubble Bath ink. By positioning the stamp so that part of the design extends off the edges onto my scrap paper, I maintained open space in the center, perfect for highlighting the sentiment. The sentiment, also from the Layers of Beauty stamp set, was stamped in Petunia Pop ink, adding a cohesive touch to this layered card.

Here’s a close-up of my handmade card, showcasing the rich texture and dimension created with Embossing Paste. To add a bit of pop, I stamped the sentiment in Petunia Pop ink on Basic White cardstock and used the Stylish Shapes Dies for a crisp, clean cut. I then adhered the sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Below, you’ll find a step-by-step video demonstrating how to use the Layers of Beauty Masks on a different card, making it easy to see how effortlessly they align. I encourage you to try this cardmaking technique—it’s a simple way to elevate your designs with depth and texture!
