Hello, fellow stampers! Today, I’m excited to share two easy handmade card designs featuring a versatile and simple card layout. These DIY greeting cards are crafted using die cuts, but if you don’t have a die-cutting machine, don’t worry—you can easily substitute punches to achieve a similar look. This card-making idea is perfect for creating beautiful handmade cards with minimal effort. Keep reading for step-by-step instructions and creative tips!

Creating simple handmade cards is easy with just a few essential layers. I start with a Thick Basic White card base measuring 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ for a sturdy foundation. Next, I add a colored cardstock layer cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″, providing a beautiful contrast. To bring in patterns and texture, I use a Designer Series Paper (DSP) layer measuring 3-3/4″ x 5″, adding a pop of creativity to the card front. Whether you’re new to handmade card making or a seasoned paper crafter, this simple layering technique helps you create professional-looking DIY greeting cards effortlessly.

The first of my two simple handmade cards showcases Shaded Spruce cardstock paired with the vibrant Full of Life Designer Series Paper (DSP). To create the focal point, I layered a die-cut from the Spotlight on Nature Dies using Granny Apple Green and Basic White cardstock. The sentiment, from the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set, is stamped in coordinating Shaded Spruce ink for a cohesive look. To highlight the DSP’s bold design, I strategically placed the focal point on the left and trimmed part of the circle for a unique effect. A delicate butterfly, die-cut with the Beautiful Butterflies Dies, adds the perfect finishing touch, bringing dimension and charm to this handmade greeting card.

Inside the handmade card, I layered a piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock to coordinate with the card front, adding a cohesive and polished look. On top of that, I placed a layer of Basic White cardstock, creating the perfect space for a heartfelt message. To enhance the design, I stamped a thoughtful sentiment in the center using Shaded Spruce ink for a crisp, elegant touch. For added charm, I used the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set to place delicate butterfly images in the upper left and lower right corners with Pool Party ink, bringing a soft and whimsical feel to the card’s interior.

The second of my two simple handmade cards showcases a Highland Heather cardstock base, layered with a beautifully patterned sheet from the Full of Life Designer Series Paper. For the focal point, I used the Countryside Corners Dies to create elegant die-cut labels in Pool Party and Basic White cardstock. The sentiment, stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink, stands out beautifully and is complemented by a delicate die-cut butterfly accent. To add a modern touch, I positioned the die cuts slightly to the left and trimmed off the excess for a clean, asymmetrical look.

Inside the card, I added a layer of Highland Heather cardstock to complement the card front, along with a Basic White layer for the stamped sentiment. The heartfelt message is stamped in Highland Heather ink, while delicate butterflies grace the upper left and lower right corners in Gorgeous Grape ink, adding a charming touch. To help you recreate this handmade card, I’ve included a step-by-step video tutorial below, guiding you through the entire process. Be sure to watch and craft along!
