Hi, Stamper — today I’m sharing two simple, beginner-friendly fun fold cards from my Stamping Made Simple series on YouTube. Every Thursday at 2:30pm MT I go live for an easy cardmaking tutorial perfect for beginners or crafters with limited supplies; the fun fold dutch door card is an “easy but impressive” design that you can make in minutes with the right supplies.

I used the Cheers & Sips bundle and the Celebratory Sips Designer Series Paper for both cards — two must-have Stampin’ Up! supplies if you love quick, festive cards that look professionally layered. I adore fun fold cards, and these dutch door cards give you that interactive feel without a lot of complicated steps.

My portrait dutch door card starts with a Berry Burst card base (8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″). I measured down 2-3/4″ on the right side of the front, cut across to the score line on the left, then cut down from the top to remove that top section and create the dutch door flap. I used a 1-3/4″ hole punch to remove half a circle from the leftover front piece, then cut a piece of Celebratory Sips DSP to 4″ x 2-1/2″ and marked the back where the half-circle would sit. Using a 2″ circle punch I cut a matching half-circle from the DSP before adhering the patterned paper to the card front so the window lines up perfectly — an easy trick for clean half-circle windows on a dutch door card.

Inside that portrait dutch door card I added a 4″ x 5-1/4″ Basic White layer and used a blending brush to add just a touch of Berry Burst ink for subtle depth. I die cut a drink image from the DSP so it sits in the notch created by the half-circle window, stamped the strawberry inside the glass, and colored it with Stampin’ Blends for smooth shading; a white gel pen adds highlights and extra dimension. For a simple sentiment banner I cut two strips of cardstock — Berry Burst and Bubble Bath, each 3″ x 3/4″ — trimmed an angle on the right end, stamped “cheers” on the Bubble Bath strip in Berry Burst ink, then layered the strips with a slight overlap and adhered them near the upper left edge for a clean, balanced finish.

My second version is the same easy dutch door concept adapted to landscape orientation. I started with a Bubble Bath card base (11″ x 4-1/4″, scored at 5-1/2″), measured down 2-1/8″ on the right side and cut across to the score line, then down from the top to remove the top half of the front. I again used the 1-3/4″ circle punch to create a half-circle from the leftover piece and cut DSP to 4″ x 1-7/8″, using the 2″ circle punch to create the matching half-circle in the patterned paper before adhering. The same simple techniques — line up the half-circle, adhere the DSP, and decorate the inside — give you a coordinated set of cards with very little extra work.

The inside of the landscape dutch door card features a 5-1/4″ x 4″ Basic White layer decorated similarly to the portrait version but flipped to suit the orientation; the same stamping, blending, and coloring steps apply so you can make both cards quickly while keeping a consistent theme. These cards are perfect for using up Designer Series Paper and showcasing the Cheers & Sips bundle art — the half-circle window creates a peek-a-boo effect that is always a winner for birthday, hostess, or everyday celebration cards.

Both of my original Dutch door cards were created in shades of pink — very much “on brand” for me since pinks are my favorite colors to craft with. But I couldn’t resist making a third version to showcase one of our gorgeous new In Colors, Timid Tiger. This bold orange shade gives the fun fold card a completely different look and shows just how versatile the Dutch door card design can be. Whether you prefer soft, feminine tones like Berry Burst and Bubble Bath or trendy, vibrant shades like Timid Tiger, this simple fold works beautifully with any color palette.
