We are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators who love sharing creative fun fold card ideas, and today I’m excited to share a Stair Step Overlay Valentine’s Day fun fold card that is both eye-catching and easy to recreate.
Valentine’s Day will be here before we know it, which makes this Stair Step Overlay Valentine’s Day card the perfect handmade card idea for the season. This unique fun fold reminds me of a Faux Center Step card I created for Valentine’s Day a few years ago. If you enjoy stepped cards and interactive designs, this fold is a fun twist that adds beautiful dimension while still fitting in a standard envelope. For this Stair Step Overlay fun fold card, I started with a Strawberry Slush card base and layered it with Pretty In Pink cardstock for a soft, romantic look. I then decorated the card using the Made With Love Designer Series Paper, which is perfect for Valentine’s Day card making. Along the bottom front of the card, I added a strip of Basic White cardstock matted with Strawberry Slush. The “Hugs & Kisses” sentiment was stamped in Strawberry Slush ink, tying the layers together beautifully.
The focal point of this Stair Step Overlay Valentine’s Day card is a heart die cut from Real Red cardstock using the Endless Love Dies. I stamped the “Happy Valentine’s Day” greeting from the Endless Love stamp set in VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. When heat embossing, I like to heat from both the front and back of the cardstock. This helps melt the embossing powder evenly and prevents the cardstock from warping.
To finish the heart, I die cut the XO from Bubble Bath cardstock with an adhesive sheet applied to the back. This makes placement quick and easy with no extra glue. I added a few Basic Rhinestones for a touch of sparkle and shine, giving the card a polished, professional finish.
Inside this Stair Step Overlay fun fold Valentine card, I chose a slightly different approach. Instead of placing the Basic White writing layer inside the card, I added it to the back. The Basic White cardstock is accented with a strip of leftover Designer Series Paper along the bottom and then mounted on Pretty In Pink cardstock so it really stands out.
