Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop Badge

Hi, Stamper. Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop and my sliding lock card! This month’s Stampin’ Pretty Pals Blog Hop is all about the Male Room theme—because the men in our lives deserve handmade cards too! Whether you’re creating for a dad, husband, son, grandson, brother, or friend, this hop is packed with ideas to help you craft something special. Today, the Pals are sharing male-themed card designs using Stampin’ Up! products, from bright and playful styles to classic looks and quick-and-easy layouts. If you’re looking for fresh inspiration (or just a good reason to dive into your craft room), you’re in the perfect place.

For my project, I was excited to use the Service Essentials Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up! It has been quite a while since Stampin’ Up! released a military-themed stamp set, so I was thrilled to add this one to my collection. To showcase it, I created a Sliding Lock Fun Fold Card, which is an interactive design that adds a little extra “wow” to your handmade cards.

I started with a Mossy Meadow card base, layered with Old Olive cardstock, and then added a piece of Nature’s Walk Designer Series Paper. The colors and pattern in this paper reminded me of camouflage fatigues, making it a perfect choice for a masculine or military-inspired card design.

The sliding lock mechanism is created using Mossy Meadow cardstock punched with a 2” Circle Punch. The circle is attached to the back of a rectangle die-cut piece created with the Textured Notes Dies. This sliding element holds the card closed and creates a fun interactive feature when the card is opened.

For the focal point, I took inspiration directly from a sample provided by Stampin’ Up! for the Service Essentials bundle. Using a design idea as inspiration and adapting it into your own project is known as CASEing (Copy And Share Everything). I loved the look of the original sample, and incorporating that focal point into my Sliding Lock Fun Fold Card worked perfectly.

Because the Nature’s Walk Designer Series Paper has warmer tones, I chose Very Vanilla cardstock instead of Basic White for my stamped elements. The inside of the card includes a Very Vanilla layer with a stamped sentiment and Real Red stars in the upper left and lower right corners using the Service Essentials stamp set, tying all the colors together.
