Relaxing Waterside Hammock Card

Hi, Stamper! This month we’re celebrating our favorite products from the catalog—the stamps, dies, designer papers, and embellishments we find ourselves reaching for again and again. One bundle that continues to inspire me is the Relaxing Waterside Bundle. The Adirondack chair image is so versatile and works beautifully for masculine cards, retirement cards, thinking of you cards, and peaceful outdoor scenes.

For today’s project, I created a unique Fun Fold Hammock Card that will be featured in Volume 5 of my Fun Fold Tutorial Book. While the outside looks like a simple gatefold card, it opens to reveal a fun suspended surprise that’s sure to impress anyone who receives it.

The hammock card base is made with Lost Lagoon cardstock and is wrapped with a belly band created from Waterside Retreat Designer Series Paper. The focal point features a relaxing lakeside scene stamped on Basic White cardstock. I softly blended Pool Party ink across the top to create the sky and added Crumb Cake ink along the bottom for the sandy shoreline using Blending Brushes. The Adirondack chair was stamped in Pecan Pie ink on Pecan Pie cardstock, while the coffee cup was stamped in Lost Lagoon ink on Pool Party cardstock. Both images were die cut with the Relaxing Waterside Dies before being added to the scene. I finished the design by stamping the sentiment in Lost Lagoon and adding grass in Old Olive directly to the background. The focal layer is matted with Pool Party and Lost Lagoon cardstock to complete the front.

When you open the hammock card, the real surprise is revealed. A suspended hammock appears to float in the center of the card, creating a fun interactive display. The hammock is constructed from Lost Lagoon cardstock and supports the inside sentiment panel, giving the illusion that it is suspended in midair. The background is decorated with more Waterside Retreat Designer Series Paper, while the Basic White inside panel is layered with Pool Party cardstock and stamped with another peaceful lakeside scene using the coordinating images from the Relaxing Waterside Bundle.

One of my favorite features of the hammock card design is that the floating center panel stands beautifully for display, making it just as much a decorative keepsake as it is a handmade greeting card.
