Hi, Stamper. Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month, the theme is Create Your Own Background.  I’ve created a faux side step card with custom backgrounds. We really hope that you will be inspired by all the amazing creations the Pals are sharing with you! As you hop from blog to blog, we would love for you to leave a comment. You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

I created my own background for this faux side step card.  I love this fun fold because it’s so easy!  It’s a “faux” side step because there is no measuring to cut into the card base.  You have two pieces you cut and score and then adhere together – easy peasy!  The Balmy Blue card base is 5-1/2″ x 8″, scored at 3″, 6″ and 7″ and 3″ x 6″ scored at 4-1/4″.  (CLICK HERE to see another faux side step card.)

This angle gives you a good view on how the faux side step card folds. One of my “backgrounds” is on the base piece.  I used a mask I made using the Basic Borders Dies and a Blending Brush with Balmy Blue ink to create waves. Snowfall Accents Puff Paint was used to make the whitecaps on my ocean.

My second “background” is behind the lighthouse. The clouds were made using a mask I created using the Basic Borders Dies and Blending Brushes with Balmy Blue ink to create the clouds onto a 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Basic White CS. For the rock hill, I stamped the rocks multiple times onto Smoky Slate CS with Smoky Slate ink and fussy cut the top edge with paper snips. The sand was created on the 1″ x 5-1/2″ strip of Crumb Cake CS using stamping sponge and Sahara Sand ink.

On the back side of my faux side step card is a 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White CS. I created a similar scene on the back to match the front of the card. I’ve included a video below that shows just how it was all done.

Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on August 10th. Our theme will be Seasons’ Greetings, where we will showcase projects inspired by our favorite seasonal time of the year.

Until then, have fun in your craft space.
