Hi, Stamper. Have you checked out my Stamping Made Simple series on YouTube? This popular cardmaking series is perfect for beginner stampers who want to learn easy card ideas without needing a die-cutting machine. While I continue to share my more advanced fun fold card tutorials every Monday, Thursdays are all about quick and simple handmade cards that are beginner-friendly but still include helpful stamping tips for experienced crafters. These easy cardmaking projects often feature punches and basic tools, making them ideal for anyone looking to create beautiful cards without a lot of equipment.

In one of my recent Stamping Made Simple video tutorials, I demonstrated how to create these beautiful simple & stepped up fun fold cards using basically the same layout. While both cards share a similar design, one is a stepped-up version that includes a few extras for a more polished, professional look. This easy cardmaking tutorial is perfect for both beginner and those looking to expand their skills.

This easy fun fold card features a Highland Heather card base measuring 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ to create a standard A2 size. To create the fun fold design, I trimmed 1-1/4″ from the bottom edge of the front panel. For the card front, I added a piece of Splendid Autumn Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut to 5-1/4″ x 2-3/4″, giving it a beautiful seasonal touch. The sentiment, from the My Small Business stamp set, was stamped in Garden Green ink onto Basic White cardstock and punched out using the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch from Stampin’ Up! To complete the design, I attached the sentiment piece by gluing only the top half to the lower portion of the card front, allowing it to peek over the edge in a creative way.

Inside this simple fun fold card, I added a 5-1/4″ x 4″ layer of Basic White cardstock to create a clean space for a handwritten message. To give the inside of this handmade card a touch of color and coordination, I adhered a 5″ x 1/2″ strip of the Splendid Autumn Designer Series Paper along the bottom edge and another 5″ x 1/2″ strip across the top. These decorative accents tie in beautifully with the front of the card and showcase how quick and easy it is to step up your Stampin’ Up! fun fold card designs with just a few simple touches.

For this card design, I began with a Highland Heather card base measuring 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″. Instead of trimming the bottom, I scored the card at 1-1/4″ and folded it towards the front. For the decorative elements, I matted a 5″ x 2-1/2″ piece of Splendid Autumn Designer Series Paper with a 5-1/4″ x 2-3/4″ layer of Basic White cardstock. To embellish the folded section, I added a 5-1/4″ x 1″ layer of Basic White cardstock, followed by a 5″ x 3/4″ layer of Splendid Autumn DSP. The sentiment was stamped in Garden Green ink onto Basic White cardstock and punched out using the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch. I then punched a piece of Highland Heather cardstock with the same punch, cutting the shape in half horizontally. The two pieces were adhered behind the sentiment with a touch of purple peeking from the top and bottom. To finish, I added a few Brass Butterflies for an elegant touch, completing this stepped up card design.

Inside the handmade card, I added a layer of Basic White cardstock to create a clean space for a personal message. To embellish this layer, I cut two 1″ squares from patterned paper and then sliced each one diagonally, forming four triangles. I adhered these triangle accents to the corners of the Basic White layer, giving it a charming, decorative frame. This simple yet effective technique adds a nostalgic touch, reminiscent of scrapbook page layouts from the 1990s, and brings a vintage flair to your handmade greeting cards.
